The Role of the School Governors
Lightcliffe School has a board of Governors who oversee the running of the school.
The main role of the Governors is to be a 'critical friend' to the school and to set the general 'direction' of the school.
There are 16 members of the Governing Body and they are appointed by different outside agencies.
There are 2 'Parent Governors' - these are parents who have been voted onto the Governing Body by other parents in the school.
There is 1 'LEA Governors' - appointed by the Local Authority.
There are 8 'Foundation Governors' who are appointed by the Church and the Diocese.
There is 1 'Teacher Governor' - elected by the teachers in school.
There are 2 'Co-Opted Governors.
There are 2 'Ex-officio' Governors - the Headteacher and the Vicar (or a representative of the Vicar).
