Governor Profiles

Revd Kathryn Buck - Foundation Governor (Ex Officio)

Admissions Committee

Personnel Committee

I am one of the Foundation Governors because I am the vicar of St Matthew’s Lightcliffe and St. Chad’s , Hove Edge. Before being ordained I taught in Secondary Schools, so I have experience of schools and education as a parent, teacher and as a Governor. In the past I have served on several governing bodies and have seen the role of Governor change quite considerably. I mainly see myself as a chaplain to the whole school community and am always open to a coffee and a chat should you ever wish to contact me.

Charles Woodbridge - Headteacher Governor (Ex Officio)
I was born and brought up in the Cambridgeshire Fens, and had a gap year working on a farm. I moved to Huddersfield in 1982 to study an Education Degree. I graduated in 1986 and, having married Debbie in 1985, settled in Huddersfield.

I first taught in 1982 in Dewsbury and later moved to Spring Grove in Huddersfield. Having worked in this school for a few years I became an Advisory Teacher for ICT in Kirklees. After two years experience I moved to be the Deputy Headteacher at St. John's C.E. (A) Primary School.

After three years at St. John's School I became the Headteacher at Gomersal St. Mary's C.E. First and Nursery School.

In January 2004 I became the Headteacher here at Lightcliffe.  I serve on the Governing Body as an ex-officio member; which essentially means it is part of my role as Head! I formally report to the Govenors on the work of the school at the main meetings.  In addition to the day to day running of the school, I am involved in all decision making at Governor level.

I am the Chair of the Curriculum Committee which looks at all aspects of the curriculum including policies, Gifted and Talented provision, SEN and Inclusion. I have been a member of the Governing Body since 2005, previous to that I was a member of the PFSA. I am married to Allan and have two children who both attended Lightcliffe School. I previously owned a childcare business and now work at Bradley Playgroup and run an after school club in Hipperholme. My full time hobby is Scouting in Huddersfield North District, I also enjoy reading and card making. I am a regular visitor to School where I take a group of children for their enrichment doing cross stitch.

Heather Harding - Foundation Governor
Curriculum Committee
As an active member of the Parish and a parent of two young children, I appreciate the importance of the school within the wider community and, perhaps more importantly, the role the Governors play in maintaining that.
Equally, I understand the value of education for all of our children. I am dedicated to ensuring that all those who attend the school thrive and realise their full potential, both academically and as individuals.
Prior to dedicating my time to raising my family as a full-time mother, I worked in senior managment in the hotel and hospitality sector. This fostered in me keen organisational and inter-personal skills. I believe I can bring those attributes to the role of Governor. In the relatively short time that my elder daughter has attended the school I have already been involved in helping at school and have joined the PFSA.

I am Group Company Secretary of SIG plc a Sheffield based FTSE 250 company which is a leading European specialist supplier of insulation products Myself and my family are keen on sports and are season ticket holders at the Bradford Bulls. I am a member of St Johns church at Coley.

Ian Stafford - Parent Governor

Premises Committee
I am exceedingly proud to have been elected to the role of Parent Governor in February 2014.  I also serve on the Finance and Curriculum Committees.  I have been married to Helen for 12 years and we have two girls, both of whom attend the school.

I went to Hipperholme Grammar School prior to going to Liverpool John Moores University where I graduated with a degree in Business Studies - having spent my placement year at Marks and Spencer on their graduate programme.
I now work for Mars and have been there for 17 years.  I am the UK Field Sales Manager in the Petcare Division, but I have held various sales and training roles during this period.  Outside of work, I love gardening, supporting the Bradford Bulls and spending time with my family at our caravan in Settle.

Sarah Bell - Parent Governor

Curriculum Committee
I was elected Parent Governor in November 2015 and this is my first post as Governor. I am looking forward to working with the School to help maintain its high standards and meet its future challenges and aspirations. I thoroughly believe that all children at our School should have a happy, positive, stimulating and successful education where they feel valued, nurtured and reach their full potential.

I have been married to my husband Kevin for 9 years and we have 2 children, Oliver (7) and Faye (5). I qualified as a Solicitor in 2004 and I have extensive Operational Management experience alongside my legal experience, which I can bring to the role of Parent Governor.

I am currently on a career break to allow me to spend more time with our children. During my spare time I volunteer at school for the ‘Better Reading Programme’, listening to children read. My hobbies include foreign travel, gym, mountain bike riding, going to the theatre and music concerts.

Catherine Stansfield - Co-Opted Governor (Support Staff)

Curriculum Committee
Admissions Committee
I am currently in my eleventh year at Lightcliffe working as a Teaching Assistant in Year 3 and Year 4.  I have worked closely with many children over the years and fine the role highly rewarding.  As well as my various roles in the classroom, I also work as a school Librarian at lunchtime and also occasionally as a First Aider.  Also, being quite artistic, I participate in Art and Enrichment lessons and am involved with many of the artistic displays around school.  I have also recently qualified as a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant).

In the past I have been a member of the PFSA and I am now happy to be a member of the Governing Body as Support Staff Governor.

On a personal level, I have two children aged 20 and 16, both of whom attended Lightcliffe.  I enjoy reading, theatre, travel and history.

Helen Wood - Teacher Governor
